With each passing day, environmental problem is becoming persistent as a result of deforestation among others. In this light, the HILA project aims at encouraging environmental sustainability through tree planting in the various communities in the North West Region.

The planting of ornamental trees in the Balinyonga community along the stretches of Paila-Njenka Kunda road to the Balinyonga main market was carried out by the local youths of Balinyonga community under the supervision of RWASJ in collaboration with GRACARO. The project’s aim is not only to improve the environment but also beautify and make the community fascinating. During the planting activity launch, local youths from Bali were sensitised on how to take care of the trees for proper growth. A team was equally chosen by the local population and RWASJ representative properly oversee the growth and development of the trees since it is dry season. Ornamental trees were planted over two kilometers of road stretching from Kundu quarter to the market square of Balinyonga. The trees which were planted along the road will forestall land degradation by mitigation soil erosion, enhance environmental health and beautify the roadway .
