North West Regional Assembly Supports HILA and brings together RWASJ & GRACARO Present. High Impact for High Hopes.
On Sunday November 9th, 2025, the project teams from RWASJ and GRACARO convened in Balinyonga and laid the foundation plan for the community project of peace and development initiative (HILA). with two key components directly benefiting the Balinyonga community.
Infrastructural upgrade: The rehabilitation of Paila-Njenka Kundu quarter road improving mobility and access to businesses and residents and green environmental legacy, that is, the planting of ornamental trees along the scenic stretch from Njenka to the Balinyonga market square thereby enhancing the local environment and beautifying the community.
The HILA project in Cameroon is a community driven initiative focused on peace and development, particularly in the Mezam Division of the North West Region. It aims to empower local youth by engaging them in community development projects, creating jobs and fostering economic growth within their communities. The project also falls under Mezam Peace Development Initiatives (PDI), which promotes community participation and sustainable development through decentralized activities.
This project has the following objectives
- To promote peace and cohesion among the youths in Balinyonga and its surroundings.
- To boost the local economy
- Empower youths by involving them in community development projects.
The HILA project is a testament to RWASJ’s believe in sustainable grassroots change as it aligns with RWASJ’s goal of reducing poverty and vulnerability among rural women. Furthermore, the project’s inclusion under the Mezam Peace Development Initiatives (PDI) further strengthens its connection to RWASJ’s broader vision.
