On Saturday 22 November 2025, Rural Women’s Action for Sustainability and Justice (RWASJ) in partnership with D &C Foundation launched the 2025 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence at the Olembe Stadium. The event ran from 7:30 am to 3:30 pm under the global theme: Unite! End digital violence against women and girls. With 55 participants, both women and men, gathered in the UN’s “Orange the World” outfits to symbolize hope for a future free from violence. Activities included a peace walk, collective body exercise, focused group discussions, and the distribution of “T”-shirts carrying powerful messages promoting awareness and prevention of gender-based violence. The event strengthened participants’ commitment to advocacy and deepened their understanding of actions needed to protect survivors and empower communities.
The Sixteen Days Activism Against Gender Based Violence is an annual international campaign that raises awareness on the urgent need to eliminate violence against women and girls. The 2025 launched by RWASJ brought together diverse community members to promote solidarity, encourage engagement, and highlight local strategies for prevention and response. The objectives were:
- To raise awareness on the impact of gender-based violence on individuals and communities.
- To mobilize women, men, and youth to stand against all forms of violence.
- To strengthen community level engagement in prevention and response.
- To encourage dialogue on safe spaces, survivor support, and accountability.
- To promote the global Orange the World vision.
Activities included:
